Roam Beyond add-on no working

Hi, posting on here in the hope that someone from ID Mobile sees it…

I purchased a Roam Beyond add-on for Morocco yesterday, I can see it on my account. It is not working; though I appear to have a strong 4G signal most of the time, I am completely unable to connect to the internet (except over wifi as I am now). I was previously in Spain and roaming was working fine so there’s no general problem with roaming per se. I’ve tried restarting my phone in the hope that would fix it (3 times!) but it made no difference.

Can someone from ID mobile investigate and fix please? I wanted to use live chat but couldn’t get it to work 😡

Probably best to just ask iD for a refund, @Malcyb

Alas, the iD Roam Beyond data add-on seems to be somewhat problematic for many customers, judging by posts in this forum.

If your phone is dual-SIM and eSIM capable, maybe get a data-only eSIM with a travel plan for Morocco instead.

That’s depressing. Don’t have dual sim and hadn’t heard of an eSIM until I googled it. Don’t think I’ll be able to sort that while I’m here. How on earth do you contact ID!? I found the page for live chat but no way of opening a chat…

EDIT… though purchasing an eSIM sounds do-able, since I’m on public wifi I’ve no way of making any purchase securely 🤬

Although it’s public Wi-Fi, your Internet network connection would be encrypted end-to-end using SSL/TLS.

TBH I’m not here for long enough to make it worth all the faffing around itwould involve 🙄. I’ll muddle along with wifi and look into an eSIM before the next time I leave Europe.

I eventually managed to start a chat (different browser worked). I was on it for over an hour as the assistant tried unsuccessfully to fix it, eventually asked me to swap my sim into another phone which sounded like desperation to me, and I couldn’t do it anyway as I had no other phone to borrow. Eventually they agreed to deducting the cost of the add on from my next bill but it was bloody hard work…

I got a £20 add on for the US, and it didn’t work at all. I contacted them and they gave a me shopping list of things I should ‘try’ to get it to work, but I was already back in the UK, (all list doesn’t appear on the confirmation message, btw). They are quite clearly having a lot of problems with it, but act as if it’s something you’re doing or not doing. Anyway, eventually they said they would refund my £20. But I’d rather they sorted out the QUITE OBVIOUS problems, judging by the number of people on here.

I'm in Morocco and have the same problem. Paid for the roaming add-on and it doesn't work.

Hi @Phil Ratcliffe

We are sorry to hear your add on is not working.

Can you please confirm if roaming was activated prior to leaving the UK?

Also, have you ran a manual network search and tried an alternative network?

Please do let us know and we will do all we can to assist further.

Thanks,

Nat

Hi Nat,

Yes, I activated it before I left the UK and it didn't work when I arrived, but fortunately it started working the next day and is now working very well!

Thanks 👍
