I bought a roaming add-on for a trip to Switzerland, but now I’m back in the UK I keep getting messages saying “texting from abroad is chargeable” and I’m being charged 5p a text. How do I get my phone to understand I’m back in the UK and it should revert to my normal plan??

It sounds like your phone may still be registering as roaming, which can sometimes happen if it hasn’t fully reconnected to a UK network. This is why you’re seeing messages about charges for texting abroad.
To resolve this, please try the following steps:
Turn your phone off and back on again.
Make sure data roaming is switched off in your settings.
Manually select a UK network in your mobile network settings (or set it to automatic selection).
Once your phone reconnects properly to a UK network, your normal plan rates should apply again.
