Receiving a daily photo of my friend’s furry baby (she’s got a very sassy mini dachshund called Frankie) never fails to bring a smile to my face!

As a single mum and a nurse, I tend to find happiness less in big events, and more in purpose, love, and resilience. That feeling of life is hard, but I’m doing it anyway! x

Waking up and knowing I'm still alive

Then wrapping up and going for a morning stroll with my beautiful husband who's been by my side  for 42 years through our ups and downs  So glad to be alive

Thanks what makes me happy x

I smile when I'm playing ondoor bowls and I see people in their 80's still playing and laughing with their team. It's wonderful to see our club full of life when matches are being played, it's a real community space that welcomes everyone ❤️

What makes me smile? Trying to beat my personal best in road races whether it’s a 10k or half marathon here in England or in a 13km/8.07 mile race in Zonnebeke Belgium which I have been the only British runner for three years representing club and country/ies I’m part Belgian.

Just by being alive!   Being able to get up every morning and enjoy the day.  Watching my Grandson growing up, seeing the wonder in his eyes with every new experience.  It's wonderful 😊

What makes me smile isn’t something loud or grand. It’s quiet. It’s fragile. It’s precious.

I’m a part-time carer for my uncle, who is in palliative, end-of-life care. He lives with me, and for that I am endlessly grateful, because it means I get to see him every single day. Every morning I wake up and hope for one simple thing: that he’s been given another day.

And when he has… that’s my smile.

My happiness is sitting beside his bed at dinner time, sharing a meal together, even if it’s slow, even if it’s silent at times. It’s the way his eyes still light up when food arrives. It’s the small, familiar voice asking, “Can I have some extra ketchup?”—as if nothing else in the world matters in that moment.

That little request does something to my heart. Because it means he’s still here. Still himself. Still choosing how he likes his food. Still sharing life with me.

In a world that moves too fast, my joy lives in those tiny moments: a shared meal, a bedside conversation, a squeeze of ketchup, and the gift of one more day together.

That’s what makes me smile. 🥰
