Got family spread across the globe? A best mate who moved to Australia? Or maybe you just need to ring a hotel in Tokyo before you land? Whatever the reason, calling abroad from the UK has always felt like one of those things that costs more than it should. So we've done something about it.

Introducing Call Abroad add-ons: a new way to call international landlines and mobiles at a fixed monthly price, with no nasty surprises on your bill.

What are Call Abroad add-ons?

Call Abroad add-ons give you a monthly allowance to call international numbers from the UK, at a flat price. There are 3 tiers to choose from depending on where you're calling, so you only pay for what you need.

Add-on Price Valid for
Call Abroad 100 Minutes EU £5 1 month
Call Abroad 150 Minutes Global Faves £7.50 1 month
Call Abroad 75 Minutes Worldwide £12 1 month

Each add-on covers calls to landlines and mobiles in its included destinations. The cost gets added to your next monthly bill, and you can buy them as a one-off or set them to auto-renew so you're never caught short.

Which add-on is right for you?

If most of your calls go to Europe, Call Abroad 100 Minutes EU has you covered for £5 a month. It includes 28 destinations across the continent, from France and Germany to Norway and Malta.

Calling further afield? Call Abroad 150 Minutes Global Faves at £7.50 includes all the EU destinations plus popular picks like the USA, India, Australia, Canada, Japan, and over 40 more countries.

And if you've got contacts dotted all over the world, Call Abroad 75 Minutes Worldwide at £12 covers 136 destinations in total.

One-off or auto-renew: your call.

When you buy a Call Abroad add-on, you get to choose how it works. A one-off add-on lasts for exactly one calendar month from the moment you buy it. If you only ring abroad every now and then, that's probably all you need.

If you're a regular caller, the auto-renew option means your add-on refreshes automatically each month so you don't have to remember to top it back up. You can cancel it any time, as long as you do it at least an hour before it's due to renew.

How to get yours.

Picking up a Call Abroad add-on takes about a minute. Here's how:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app or log in to my.idmobile.co.uk.
  2. Tap View add-ons on the dashboard.
  3. Select the Call Abroad tab.
  4. Choose the add-on that covers where you're calling.
  5. Select one-off or auto-renew.
  6. Tap Confirm, then Done.

FAQs.

Do unused minutes roll over?

No. Any minutes you haven't used will expire when your add-on does, or reset if it auto-renews. We'll send you a text at 80% and 100% usage so you can keep track.

Can I use my add-on when I'm already abroad?

Call Abroad add-ons are for calling internationally from the UK. If you're travelling and want to stay connected in your destination, take a look at our roaming options instead.

Can I cancel my auto-renewing add-on?

Yes. Just cancel it at least 1 hour before it's due to renew. Your add-on stays active until it expires, so you won't lose your remaining minutes straight away.

Will my Bill Cap affect my add-on?

Nope. Add-on purchases are separate from your Bill Cap, so you can still buy one even if you've hit your monthly limit.

Are premium rate numbers included?

No. Call Abroad add-ons cover standard landlines and mobiles only. Calls to premium rate numbers will be charged at the standard out-of-bundle rate.

Call Abroad add-ons are available now in the iD Mobile app. There are 3 tiers starting from £5 a month, so you're only paying for the destinations you need. Whether you're ringing family in Karachi or a client in New York, the minutes are there when you need them. Got any questions about Call Abroad? Let us know in the comments below!
