2026 is going to be huge! From exciting tech releases to blockbuster films and major sporting events, it’s already shaping up to be a memorable year.

We’re talking some of the most anticipated tech launches in recent memory, a World Cup on a massive scale, and the return of fan‑favourite films. By the end of this article, you’ll have your calendar marked with the biggest tech releases, blockbusters, and sporting highlights coming your way.

The tech giants: slimmer, faster, smarter.

  • iPhone 18 Pro & Pro Max (Sept 2026)

Apple looks like it’s shaking things up in 2026, with premium Pro and Pro Max models expected around September. Rumours (yes, just rumours) say the design will get tweaks like the front camera in a corner cut‑out (instead of the usual “Dynamic Island”). We might also get Face ID under the screen. There’s also chatter about Apple’s first foldable iPhone coming. Perhaps.

  • Samsung Galaxy S26 (early 2026)

Samsung fans won’t have long to wait. The Galaxy S26 series is expected early in the year, with announcements likely in January or February. Expect updated chips, camera improvements, and some new AI features built into the software. If you like your phone bright, fast, and smart, this could be your first upgrade of the year.

  • Pixel 11 (autumn 2026)

Google’s Pixel 11 family usually shows up in autumn, around October, and 2026 is no exception. While details are still coming in, the new Tensor chip should make AI features more useful - like smarter photo editing and super accurate predictive text. It’s going to be the kind of phone that feels like it’s always doing a bit of the thinking for you.

Gaming: the return to Vice City.

  • GTA VI (autumn 2026)

Rockstar Games is aiming for autumn 2026 for GTA VI. Returning to Vice City, it promises open-world fun, huge storytelling, and plenty of chaos. Perfect for those evenings when you just want to unwind, explore, or mess around with friends online.

  • Call of Duty 2026

And yes, it wouldn’t be the end of the year without Call of Duty. Expect new maps, modes, and features for late 2026 - ideal for multiplayer battles with friends or just a solid gaming session to burn some time.

The silver screen: blockbusters are back.

  • The Avengers Assemble (Dec 2026)

Avengers: Doomsday hits cinemas on 18 December. Expect the usual mix of action, humour, and epic team-ups.

  • Star Wars returns (May 2026)

The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives on 22 May, the first Star Wars theatrical release in years. Great for fans who want a proper cinematic adventure and anyone who’s been missing a galaxy far, far away.

  • Toy Story 5 (June 2026)

Pixar brings Woody, Buzz, and the gang back on 19 June. A family-friendly pick, but also ideal for anyone who loves a good nostalgia trip or a heartwarming story.

  • Hunger Games prequel (Nov 2026)

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping lands 20 November, following a young Haymitch. A nice chance to see Panem from a fresh perspective, and it’s bound to be full of action and intrigue.

Global events: the world is watching.

  • FIFA World Cup 2026 (June–July)

This one’s huge: USA, Canada, and Mexico will host 48 teams for a summer of football. Even if you’re not a die-hard fan, it’s a great spectacle to enjoy.

  • Winter Olympics (Feb 2026)

Milano‑Cortina hosts in February 2026. Skiing, skating, snowboarding and lots more - it’s a great excuse for cosy evenings at home while watching some seriously impressive feats.

A quick round-up.

Tech, gaming, culture, and sport all have standout moments ahead in 2026:

  • Tech: iPhone 18 Pro & Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S26, Pixel 11. New devices that are faster, smarter, and more helpful.
  • Gaming: GTA VI and Call of Duty. Hours of fun and ways to hang out online with friends
  • Culture & Sports: World Cup summer, Star Wars, Avengers, Toy Story, and a Hunger Games prequel.
