We know how important it is to stay connected while traveling, and we’ve got you covered with our Pre-Travel Roaming Checklist. So, whether you’re heading off for a quick getaway or exploring new places, we’ll help you avoid surprise charges so you can enjoy your trip without worrying about your phone.

Roam Free: 50 Destinations with No Extra Cost.

With Roam Free, you can use your UK allowances (up to 30GB) in 50 destinations. That means you can browse, chat, text, and stream just like you would at home, without paying extra roaming fees. Whether you’re heading to Paris, Rome, or beyond, our Roam Free destinations make it easier to stay connected and enjoy your time away.

Roam Beyond: Add-Ons for Extra Coverage.

We offer Roam Beyond add-ons for 10 more destinations. If you’re traveling to places like the USA, Australia, India, or Mexico, you can easily add data to stay connected without worrying about high roaming costs.

Here’s a breakdown of the Roam Beyond add-ons:

  • 2GB for 1 day: £5
  • 10GB for 5 days: £20
  • 20GB for 10 days: £35

How to purchase a Roam Beyond Add-on:

  1. Log into the iD Mobile app or my.idmobile.co.uk.
  2. Go to “View Add-ons” and select Roam Beyond.
  3. Pick your destination and confirm your add-on.

Buying a Roam Beyond add-on works out cheaper than paying out-of-plan charges, so it’s a great option for travelers who want flexibility and convenience.

Rest of World (ROW) Roaming Charges.

If you’re traveling to destinations outside of both Roam Free and Roam Beyond locations, you’ll be subject to our Rest of World (ROW) roaming charges. These charges apply to destinations where we don’t have free roaming or add-ons. It’s important to check these charges in advance to avoid unexpected fees.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, make sure to check the specific roaming rates for your destination before you travel.

5G(GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG).

5G connectivity comes free on all iD Mobile plans, and as long as you have a 5G-compatible phone, you can now experience 5G when in the UK and in select countries abroad. Check out the Community article below for more helpful information:

How to enable Roaming.

To use roaming, make sure it’s enabled both on the iD Mobile app and on your phone:

In the iD Mobile app:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app.
  2. Tap ‘Plan’ > Tap ‘Manage iD Services’.
  3. Ensure that the Roaming toggle is switched on.

On Your Phone:

  • iPhone: Go to Settings > Mobile Services > Mobile Data Options and toggle Data Roaming on.
  • Samsung: Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks and toggle Data Roaming on.
  • Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs and toggle Roaming on.

Once roaming is enabled, you’re ready to travel and stay connected anywhere.

Set your Bill Cap to stay in control.

To help manage your roaming charges, set or adjust your Bill Cap in the iD Mobile app. This will help you avoid any unexpected charges while you’re using your phone abroad. Here’s when to set your Bill Cap:

  • When traveling to a country outside of our Roam Free destinations.
  • If you think you might exceed your 30GB limit while roaming in a free destination.
  • If you’re near an international border, which could lead to “inadvertent roaming” (when your phone connects to a network from a nearby country).

To set your Bill Cap:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app or my.idmobile.co.uk.
  2. Tap ‘Bills’ > Tap ‘Manage bill cap’.
  3. Use the slider to choose your cap and hit ‘Save’.

Enable Low Data Mode to save costs.

When roaming, enabling Low Data Mode can help you save data and avoid overages. This feature limits your data usage by preventing apps from using data in the background, so you can focus on the essentials.

On iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Services > Mobile Data Options.
  2. Select Data Mode > Turn on Low Data Mode.

On Samsung:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Data Usage.
  2. Turn on Data Saver.

On Android:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Saver.
  2. Toggle Use Data Saver on.

By using Low Data Mode, you can stretch your data further and enjoy your travels without worrying about running out of data.

Conclusion.

Getting ready for your travels? With iD Mobile’s Roam Free and Roam Beyond options, plus the ability to manage Rest of World roaming charges, we make it easy to stay connected without breaking the bank. From enabling roaming in the app to setting a Bill Cap and activating Low Data Mode, it’s all about being prepared. Check your roaming settings before you set off, and enjoy your trip knowing we’ve got your back.
