My partner and I went to his bosses house for a dinner, double date. All went really well until we left and I fell off the curb, dislocated my ankle, passed out on my partner's bosses husband and woke up laying in his arms with paramedics looking at me. Needless to say I've never lived this one down.

A few of us went away for the weekend to watch a football match. To avoid probiems, we prebooked entry into a decent nightclub, as it was also valentines day. Once inside, I was talking to a girl who said she and her friends had come there to avoid the awful football supporters who had arrived in town. I laughed and said nothing more. Later on she came over, really trying to get my attention again. I said I thought she was so inelegant and attractive, but I was unable to take it further as I was one of the awful  football supporters she was trying to avoid.

She was stuck for words.

We are still together after 30 years.

Funniest Date Story

In 1995 I went on a blind date I asked my friend if I could bring my friend so it wasn’t so awkward, this way there would be six of us.  When I turned up I didn’t fancy my blind date at all not 30 years later I am still married to the friend he brought with him.

First date with a guy I knew through a friend. He’d planned the date, took me to his mate’s house where he proceeded to show me his collection of swords and knives. I thought I was going to die!

a valentine's date a few years ago. she seemed nice but her friend kept blowing up her phone and calling her. she insisted I should meet him and her other friend. turns out he was in love with her, which he made very clear and gave her a promise ring, right there on our date. I still had her round that night (nothing happened) and the next day we went to McDonald's. she ordered milk.

I had been dating my boyfriend for 2 years before he took me to meet his family for the first time, his mum was lovely & the dogs were adorable (sister & father both quirky) things went well, when it came time to leave boyfriends mum  said I should come again as the dogs really liked me!

On a canal boat trip , the first time we spent under the same roof, I fell off the boat and cracked some ribs. She had to call an ambulance and I ended up in Mirfield hospital. She had to rescue my wallet which had fallen into the canal, and describing to the ambulance where we were on a canal was quite tricky. After this disastrous encounter we are still together 14 years later .

My 1st Date with a guy I had been talking to on POF (Plenty Of Fish) Friday 13th June 2014, I was waiting at Wellington Train Station, He was coming from Shrewsbury, There I was all dressed up with hair & make-up done by my eldest daughter. He gets off the train and starts walking towards me, and when he got up to me, he just looked at me with his finger pointing at me and says…… “I Think It’s You” My initial thought was, (what a weirdo)!! But here we are nearly 11 years Later, we were engaged after just 10 weeks of dating, and were married in 2016. (This is my 3rd Marriage). And yes it is 3rd time lucky, (even though we met on Friday 13th)!! He is My Husband, My Soul Mate, & My Best Friend. I Only wish I’d have met him sooner, so that I could love him for longer.

I met a guy in a pub, we had mutual friends. His friend rang me later that week saying there’s a big group of us going to York come with us. I reluctantly agreed in the car on the way he said don’t worry I’ll be with you all night. First pub all the lads left to go on to next pub in the crawl leaving me with a bunch of ladies I’d just met! 😱 Luckily it all went great and we’ve been married for 29 years. 😂

I was once on a coffee date with someone at one of the local Costa shops and on looking out the window seen his car rolling forward into the middle of the carpark. Poor guy was so nervous about meeting me that he had forgotten to put the handbrake on 🙈 No harm done though and we still laugh about it to this day 😬

My sister once set me up on a blind date, with her and her husband. He was the most unfunny and boring man I’d ever met. I couldn't wait to go home. I was so bored, when then Salvation Army came round the pub for donations, I gave them some money and asked if they had a leaflet I could read!

20 years ago i was a teenager. I was visiting my first boyfriend on the train. I really didn’t want to spend any money getting the train so i figured i’d be naughty and hide when the ticket man went past. I hid and i would’ve totally got away it had i not missed my stop daydreaming.

So there i was, alone, on a train panic stricken. The ticket man happened to walk past again…. He asked to see my ticket. I told him with shy and nervous demeaner i didn’t have a ticket and i didn’t know were i was. I poured my loose change out onto the train table and i said sorry whilst bracing myself for a telling off. He then told me he was sorry he didn’t give me a ticket and that i didn’t need to buy one. I sort of let that roll and gasped a sigh of relief.

Anyways with the lovely ticket mans help i made it back to my destination. To meet my boyfriend, i was very late yet the moment my foot got off that train my boyfriend was still there waiting for me. We greeted each other with a hug and a kiss, i’d missed him so much. I don’t miss him anymore though because everyday i wake up next to him in a warm embrace. He is, to this day and beyond my soulmate.

I said I'd pick this lovely girl up, but what she didn't know was I'd be turning up on a moped, with a fishbowl helmet, she wasn't impressed, but we have been married 36 years.

I was once being escorted home after a date with a guy who was big into his rugby. At the end of the street, I had mentioned something about it looks painful when they tackle in rugby, to which he decided to tackle me into the flower bed unannounced apparently wanting to show me it was fine!!!! After asking him wtf, and getting the soil off my little black dress, I advised him I would be walking the remainder of the trip alone. And no, we would not be meeting up again!!!! 🙄

My first date with my now wife did not go to plan! en route to visit her i got lost and could find our meet spot. I also got into a small car crash where (I was fine) but my wing mirror wasn't! All this compounded to mean I was was nearly an hour late for my date. I walked into our date sweating and flustered which made for a very uncomfortable first part of our date. It soon warmed up though and gave some funny stories to tell on our wedding day :-)

  • I thought ice skating would be romantic—until I stepped onto the rink.
  • She glided effortlessly, looking like a winter movie scene. I, on the other hand, clung to the wall like a terrified koala.
  • “Need help?” she teased, skating circles around me.
  • “Of course not,” I lied, pushing off with confidence… and immediately face-planting.
  • She tried to help me up, but in the process, I grabbed her hand, lost balance again, and took her down with me. Now we were both on the ice, laughing uncontrollably.
  • “Smooth,” she said, shaking her head.
  • I grinned. “Falling for me already?”

When I was much younger a friend said a builder working near her work place had asked her out.  As she didn’t know him well, she asked him to bring a friend so that I could go as well. (Safety in numbers!) We arranged to meet at the corner of her road.  At the set time, a car pulled up and we jumped in.  We all headed to a pub and whilst the men went to get drinks my friend suddenly burst into laughter.  It seems it was NOT the man who had asked her out! These guys had obviously just pulled up as we had been standing there looking a bit lost!  They must have been really surprised when we just got into their car! We told them what had happened and we all actually had a great night out!  (The builder never spoke to her again as he thought he had been stood up!)

Fancy Argentinian steakhouse. Really expensive. He knocks a large class of pricey red wine on the floor. Breaks the glass. Went on to do it plenty of times at home too!

On a date my boyfriend said I should drive (his new car) - on trying to negotiate an enclosed parking area I pranged the car, mortified I thought that was the last time he would see me.  I was wrong, he has been my husband for 50 years.
