My Favorite video game has to be Sonic 3 (& Knuckles). It was the first game I had ever completed 100% and I still dive into it today when I need a break from the modern day.

Did you know laughing offers more than just a bit of fun? Science proves this reaction releases endorphins, lowers stress, and gives your immune system a little boost too. People do not call laughter the best medicine for nothing!

On Sunday 3rd May 2026, we celebrate World Laughter Day. People founded this global event to promote peace, wellbeing, and positivity through the power of humour. To help you celebrate in style, we are also launching a massive new giveaway this month! We all know the dangers of doomscrolling, but we can also use our phones to reconnect with loved ones, boost our mood, and produce a surprising amount of joy.

When you use it the right way, your phone becomes a pocket-sized comedy club. We have put together five simple ways you can transform your phone into a goldmine for giggles, plus details on how you can win an amazing new gaming console.

Bring face-to-face fun back with video calls.

Texting feels quick, and voice notes offer great convenience. But when you want a good laugh, nothing beats seeing someone’s face. You can use a spontaneous video call to check in with loved ones, and you get to experience all the magic of hanging out in person. Laughter spreads easily, so when you actually see your friend cracking up, you will find it impossible to keep a straight face.

If you need a bit of extra material, you should try the built-in AR filters and effects on apps like Snapchat, WhatsApp, or FaceTime. You will struggle to stop giggling when an app turns your friend into a squeaky-voiced chipmunk and makes you look like one of Van Gogh’s portraits.

Tune into top-tier comedy podcasts.

You can use comedy podcasts to inject laughter into the boring bits of life. You will always find something to smile about, whether you are washing up, walking the dog, or enduring the morning commute. Award-winning shows like Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaste mix chaotic stories with laugh-out-loud moments. Listening to them feels exactly like hanging out with your funniest mates. Just take care, as you might end up howling with laughter in a quiet train carriage.

Embrace the absurdity of AI.

You can use AI as a serious tool to get stuff done, but you can also explore it as a treasure trove for positively silly entertainment. Ask an AI chatbot to write a poem about your mate’s rubbish football team, generate the worst dad jokes, or create a sitcom script that features your friends as characters.

You can go one step further with the AI image tools on your phone and bring your ridiculous visions to life. Picture your dog as the president or your cat attending a Victorian tea party. Share your absurd creations in your group chat to spread the laughs.

Team up for digital daftness with mobile games.

You will find that few things spark laughter quite like a completely unhinged party game. Multiplayer mobile games offer perfect entertainment, whether you sit in the room together or play remotely. You can easily pick up games like Spaceteam, Heads Up!, and Jackbox Games to enjoy some seriously chaotic fun. Your phone becomes the controller, the drawing pad, or the buzzer. You bring the comedy, claim the win, and get the whole group in fits of laughter.

Scroll down memory lane with photo apps.

You probably hide your biggest comedy archive right there on your phone. Apps like your image gallery and Snapchat love resurfacing old memories. They show you everything from forgotten nights out to questionable fashion choices. Nothing prepares you for the moment your phone unexpectedly displays your makeshift modelling portfolio selfies from when you were ten years old.

You can take the fun a step further by editing those memories. Just add some goofy music, throw on some silly stickers, and share the results directly with the people involved. You will quickly discover that nostalgia and embarrassment make an unstoppable comedy duo.

Ready to spread the laughs?

Let us quickly recap how you can celebrate. You can ditch the texts and make a silly video call, or let comedy podcasts accompany your daily routine. You might prefer to use AI for ridiculous jokes, poems, and images. Alternatively, you can download mobile party games to embrace the chaos, or revisit old photo memories to laugh at past versions of yourself.

World Laughter Day gives you the perfect excuse to pick up your phone and spread a bit of joy. Because gaming is such a fantastic way to bring people together and share a laugh, we want to keep the fun going with this month's giveaway. We are giving one lucky winner a choice between an Xbox Series X, a PS5, or a Nintendo Switch 2!

It’s got to be Ghostbusters, released in 1984 by Activision for the Commodore 64. You have to understand, we didn’t have much going on back then as kids and trying to build a successful ghostbusting business whilst saving NYC from a massive supernatural outbreak was the height of excitement - that and driving round the city for hours and hours responding to ghost sightings. I never did stop that Marshmallow Man but I had the best car on the block…

Tough one, but I'd have to go with Dune 2 from Westwood.

Loved the strategy, and it tied in with one of my favourite books and film

Sad to say but it was the Wii Fit Sports game as there’d not been anything like it before. Loved the golf but hated the tennis as my son served aces all the time whereas no matter how I tried it was only now and again🤣

PlayStation

I am also diagnosed with a long term potentially fatal disease.
