Changing plan

Hi, it looks like I can change my plan.

i have IPhone 15 with 500GB of data for £34 per month,, but apparently can change my plan to unlimited data for £32, not a huge difference really, but if I change to a different plan, would it start a new contract (Ithink mine ends currently in November 2026)?

I would actually consider paying off the contract to restart one with an Android, if that is possible and not too expensive?

Hi @suggsy

Kindly be advised that taking out a new plan will result in a new number, and we cannot transfer your existing number from one iD Mobile account to another, meaning your current number would be lost.

The only way to keep your number is by upgrading your current plan.

If you wish to have a different device and are still within your current contract, you would need to pay a termination fee to cancel the existing plan before taking out the new contract you want.

Thanks for this, but I was referring to ‘change plan’ and keeping the same number and contract, it doesn’t mention about starting a new contract, just changing plan.

But yes, I may consider a new plan anyway, but need to know how much it would cost me to end this current contract, and I’d like to keep the current phone number.

Thank you.

Hi @suggsy

Thank you for clarifying.

I can confirm that you are able to change the plan, this mean keep the same contract and number but changing your allowances. It will not be a new plan.

When you’re due for an upgrade you may decide to take a new handset, however you’ll keep your number and won’t need to cancel the existing contract or apply for a new plan.

Brilliant thank you.

I assume to ‘upgrade’ I have to pay the remaining months left on the contract (In my case 8 months to end of contract in November) so 8x £34 per month approximately £272?
Then start new contract while keeping this current phone number?

Hi @suggsy

You are only eligible to upgrade to a phone plan two months before your contract is due to expire. Unfortunately, we do not offer an earlier upgrade option than this.

We also do not have the option to buy out the current contract to allow for an earlier upgrade.

Thank you for this, however, I’ve never heard of this before, meaning all contracts and networks don’t refuse to be paid up in full, seems unusual, unless this is a new ruling perhaps?
