Data Roaming Cap

I have a text saying the following;

You have used 100% of your data roaming cap of £45 within minutes of landing in Singapore. Data was off on the plane and then I turned it off as soon as I got into the terminal and yet you have charged me £45?

Hi there @JaneBezza

I’m really sorry to hear about what’s happened with your roaming charge in Singapore — I completely understand how frustrating that must feel, especially when you had mobile data turned off.

When you travel outside of our inclusive roaming zones, data usage is charged at our standard international roaming rates. Even a very small amount of data can quickly reach the £45 data roaming cap, particularly in destinations like Singapore where rates are higher.

It’s possible that your phone connected to a local network automatically as soon as it was switched on, and some background apps or system updates may have used data before you had a chance to turn roaming off. Once that charge limit is reached, your data is automatically stopped to prevent any further costs.

That said, we completely understand if you feel this wasn’t expected. Please get in touch via our Socials (Facebook or Instagram), Live Chat, Community or email us at socialqueries@idmobile.co.uk so we can review your roaming activity in detail.
