Hi I have a Samsung A26 5g and am looking at using an esim in Turkey. There doesn't seem to be an option to add esim in my connection settings so does this mean its not an option?

The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G supports eSIM, but this functionality depends on the specific model and region.

  • eSIM Support: Multiple reliable sources confirm that the US and global unlocked models of the Galaxy A26 5G support eSIM. This includes the SM-A266M model available on Amazon and other international retailers.

  • How to Set Up eSIM:

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi.

    2. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM

    3. Use the QR code method (provided by your carrier) or enter an activation code.

    4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete activation.

  • Important Notes:

    • Some regional variants, such as certain LATAM or UK-specific models, may not support eSIM and are eSIM-only or physical SIM-only

    • If you cannot find the eSIM option in settings, your device may be a non-eSIM model. Check your model number (e.g., SM-A266M for eSIM-capable).

    • Dual SIM functionality allows one physical nano-SIM and one eSIM to be active simultaneously.

Always verify the model number and carrier compatibility before purchasing.

Hi @Stevem039,

Thank you for getting in touch, as mentioned by @WelshPaul,

Please note the below:

  • Samsung UK’s official specifications page for the A26 5G doesn’t list eSIM in its technical spec sheet — it only mentions “Dual-SIM” with nano-SIM slots.
  • This suggests that eSIM support may be specific to certain UK retail/market variants, or it may depend on the exact network/carrier firmware installed.

What This Means for You

  • If you purchased the UK-market Galaxy A26 5G, there’s a good chance it does support eSIM — particularly if the seller advertises it that way.
  • However, not all UK stock may have eSIM enabled at the system level; it might only appear on carrier-branded or specific firmware builds. The official Samsung UK spec page doesn’t guarantee it across all units.

Confirm on your own phone:

  • Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Manager
  • Look for an option to “Add eSIM” or similar

If you see the eSIM option, then your specific UK unit supports eSIM. If not, your variant likely only supports dual physical SIM cards.

You are able to get a physical SIM card and replace your iD Mobile SIM card with that one whilst overseas, but as a side note, we do recommend setting your bill cap to £0.00 whilst in Turkey if you are not wanting to be charged more than your monthly line rental.

Here’s how:

To increase your bill cap with iD Mobile, log in to the iD Mobile app or My Account online, navigate to the "Bills" section, and select "Manage bill cap". You can then adjust the slider or input a higher amount, with a maximum cap of £75. Changes are usually saved immediately.
