I have a delay in receiving Text messages

I am experiences a delay in receiving SMS messages. Specifically notifications of missed calls and authorisation codes that support logins (for multifactor authentication). Please advise

Hey there ​@Djwright02, sorry to hear that. How long have you had issues for, and is it only texts you’re having issues with?

 

What phone do you have, and what’s your full postcode?

I have had the issue for approx 2-3 weeks. It is for SMS messages  iMessage work fine. It is very inconvenient when I am trying to gain access to a site/account using a 6 digit code for MFA. It is also hours late in informing me of a missed call by text.

I have the same problem … MS365 needed to send me a security code last night and it took 14 hours to come through. Now trying to reconnect to my PodPoint app and still haven’t received a text 3 hours later. Two other apps this morning (changing phones means I’m having to reactivate accounts which have payment information included a lot at the moment) took over an hour, by which time I’d given up and left the EV charging station). It’s getting to a point where I’m regretting swapping to iD …

Do you have issues with all texts, or only some?

I have only just switched my number over, Tyler. And it appears to be automated texts that aren’t getting through - others are.

Two numbers are showing, Tyler … the one allocated when I took out the contract, and my old number that was ported across. Both say “primary”. I did wonder whether I should remove the temporary number, and whether that is what’s cocking it all up.

I also have recentky had delays in receiving messages - praticularly 2FA codes, sometimes for hours before they arrive. Only recently happening.  My messageing number starts with +44 if that matters?

I end up asking for a second and third code to be sent then they all arirve hours ater...too late by then.

 

Surely its an ID Mobile problem not my phone setting?

Several companies.  and also it takes hours to receive a Voicemail and also my phone doesn’t always ring but goes straight to voicemail.  I have 1 and 2 bars on the strength meter (in city centre LN6 5DJ)

 

Other days it works fine.

Yes, it has +44 at the beginning etc  - is that the problem

Hi Tyler

 

Yes I have tried that but don’t worry, I now walk around outside and I think it improves the strength to 3 bars and it picks up old voice messages and SMS.  It may be the building blocking signals
