I have two numbers set up in my settings and now I can't make external calls

Hi,

I moved over to ID mobile and was given a  number with the account.  I sent my PAC code for my existing number which went live along with my account.  I now however have two different numbers set up on my settings (Primary and personal) and if I close any of the fields for either number nothing works.  I went abroad and had to enable all settings for both numbers.  Now back in the UK, i can’t make external calls.  Do I need to different numbers and why can’t I make calls?

Hi @MiloRogue ,

I completely understand how confusing this must be. When you move to iD Mobile and use a PAC code, your old number replaces the temporary number we gave you. However, if you’re seeing two numbers (Primary and Personal) in your phone settings, this is usually because your device supports Dual SIM or eSIM, and both numbers are still active in the settings.
You only need one number,  the one you transferred using your PAC code. The temporary number can be removed from your device settings. Here’s what you can try:

-Go to Settings > Mobile Network > SIM Management and check which SIM is active for calls and data.
-Make sure your iD Mobile SIM (with your old number) is set as the default for calls and data.
-Restart your phone after making changes.

If you still can’t make external calls, please confirm:

-Your current location and postcode (to check coverage).
-The device you’re using (Pixel, Samsung, etc.).
-Whether you see any error messages when trying to call.

Hi Lamiya,

Thanks for your reply.

if I go to settings: mobile service, I can see two numbers, my original number and the number which came with ID mobile. If I check the mobile network for each, Vodafone is showing under my original number and ID mobile is showing under the number which came with ID mobile. I’m worried that if I delete the number which came with ID mobile, I’ll end up deleting the e-sim and won’t have a mobile service?

as mentioned above, my original number is showing as primary and the number from ID mobile is showing as personal. When I was abroad, I couldn’t get data until I enabled all the settings under the personal number (number from ID mobile).

Can you advise how I check which number to delete?

Thank you

@MiloRogue  How long ago did  you port your number onto IDMobile?

What device are you using?

What happens when people call you on your orginal Vodafone number or if you call the number using a different phone?

If you vodafone number was an Esim and you had confirmation from IDMobile that the port was completed you can delete the Vodafone esim. Reboot your device and check setting for your IDMobile sim there after.

Hi @MiloRogue ,

Hi there, thanks for explaining that,  you’re absolutely right to be cautious, as deleting the wrong number can remove the eSIM and stop your service. The number showing as “Personal” and linked to iD Mobile is your eSIM and the one currently providing your service. This is also why your data only worked when you switched settings on for that line while abroad.

Do not delete the iD Mobile number (the one showing iD Mobile as the network) ,deleting it would remove your eSIM and service.

If you no longer use the original number (showing Vodafone), you can remove that one instead, but only if you’re 100% sure it’s no longer needed.
