Question

IMessage not working

I switched to ID mobile about 3-4 months ago and had no problems at all with it. imessage has worked find from the moment I switched. However, about 24 hours ago my imessage stopped working suddenly. I have followed all steps of advice from apples websites and ID mobiles sites to fix this issue, and have tried all the steps on ID mobile community threads to try and fix this and nothing has worked. My phone will not turn imessage back on, it just keeps saying ‘Activation Unsuccessful’. Whenever I turn on imessage it spins for a bit then turns itself off.

As I said I have followed all the steps on both apple and ID mobile sites of how to fix this including network rests, removing my sim and waiting, logging in and out of my apple ID, force restarting my phone, and absolutely nothing has worked.

Is there anything else I can try to fix this or will my imessage never work again?

    Hi @kaysrose98,

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with iMessage, especially as it had been working perfectly since you joined iD Mobile and you've already completed so much troubleshooting.

Before anything else, I'd recommend performing a network settings reset one more time:

    For iPhone:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Tap General.
    • Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
    • Tap Reset.
    • Choose Reset Network Settings.
    • Enter your passcode and confirm.

    Once the reset has completed:

    • Restart your iPhone.
    • Ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
    • Go to Settings > Messages and try enabling iMessage again.

If you're still receiving the "Activation Unsuccessful" message after the network reset, it's possible there may be an issue with the SIM itself.

We'd recommend contacting our Customer Service Team via Live Chat to request a replacement SIM for testing: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

If a replacement SIM doesn't resolve the issue, we'd then recommend contacting Apple Support, as iMessage activation is ultimately an Apple service and they may be able to identify why the activation request is failing despite your number previously working correctly.

Hopefully one of the above steps gets iMessage working again, but if not, a replacement SIM and Apple's assistance would be the next steps to investigate further.

    Regards,
