Issue making calls and texts on new nokia 2660 flip

I recently bought myself a nokia 2660 flip on amazon (link below)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B6WKX55D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I’m finding that I’m unable to make any calls on this phone and can’t figure out why.

I previously used the same sim in my previous phone (one of the honor phones) and it worked smoothly on that. The issue is that it tells me that I can only make emergency calls, if I attempt to make a call, it says that it’s calling but no sound is made and it gives up after a few seconds. I do not receive calls either.

Usually what happens when I plug my sim in and switch my phone on, it takes a little while to connect, then it tells me I can only do emergency calls. In the top left hand side of the screen there is a 4g logo with 5 bars, next to that is the symbol of a sim card with a circle with a line cutting through superimposed onto it.

Although it does seem to indicate that I have 4g connection, no pages load when making searches in the browser. 4g connection works fine at the same location on my other phone.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

I noticed you bought the device from a marketplace seller instead of Amazon directly. It’s possible you received a grey import, originally intended for use in another country. Return it!

Hi there @anytom, unfortunately we don’t support this device on our network, so calls and texts will be unlikely to work I’m afraid. Please find supported devices below:

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @anytom

Have you tried the iD Mobile SIM in another device to see how it works there?

Yes, I have. It works just fine on an Honor smartphone I own.

ID mobile has got to be one of the work networks I’ve ever had the misfortune to use, the support chat requests time out before you get to speak to anyone. And loads of phones wont work on it because it uses three or ID whatever… I can’t even enter a bloomin radio contest via test cos the network keeps blocking it! So not suprised the 2660 which is a phone I really wanted can’t be used on this sshow of a network. Never ever will i be renewing my contract with them EVER.

Hi @Teckno28 ,

I’m really sorry to hear about your experience, it’s clear you’ve had a tough time, and that’s not what we want for any of our customers.
Regarding the Nokia 2660, while it may show signal bars, unfortunately it’s not fully compatible with the iD Mobile network, especially for calls and texts. This is because iD Mobile runs on the Three network, which uses 4G for calls (VoLTE), and many basic phones like the 2660 don’t support this properly.

As for texting into competitions, this is often blocked by default due to premium rate restrictions. To fix this:

-Log into the iD Mobile app or my.idmobile.co.uk.
-Go to Plan > Controls & Limits.
-Make sure Premium Rate Services are enabled.
-Raise your Bill Cap above £0 to allow extra charges for services like competition entries

Take care,

Lamiya

Hi, yep I understand why the basic phones don’t work with three / ID etc but fact is they still don’t work so it makes no difference especially when these phones works on pretty much every other network.

As for the premium rate options allowed I already checked that thanks and it is but I still can’t send them and it’s not my phone settings blocking it because I checked that too.

I’m just done with ID, I never had any of these issues with any other provider so I’m done, no hate to you obviously it’s not your fault, all the best.

Hi @Teckno28,

Can you please confirm the make and model of the handset?

Please can you also confirm the number you are trying to contact and we can check if it is supported for iD Mobile shortcode.

It isn’t the handset if that’s where you’re going I checked every setting, anyway doesn’t matter as I stated I’m done with ID mobile.

BTW the cancellation fee for leaving a ID mobile 24 month contract early is very interesting lol, Line rental x the number of (DAYS) not months so if I wanted to leave my contract early following that premise say 3 months early it would cost me over £2,916, is ID mobile insane???

If you could please tell me where the live chat is on here or the awful app as I want to make sure I don’t get charged for getting a PAC when I 1000% leave ID mobile in April, I know ID have stung people with a early leaving charge cos they didn’t ask over a month in advance for one. I won’t be making that mistake.

Regards

Also I shouldn’t need to confirm anything, If I choose to send a text that’s my choice, it’s not for ID mobile to say yes or no to I’m paying the bill!. It should just send the text.
