Question

issues with Geolocation and time.

We have 2 contracts with id Mobile and both of us have experienced the same issue, me more so.

We are currently traveling in Spain as I have over many years with your network and not had an issue until this trip.

My phone seems to geolocate to Sri Lanka and try to connect to their network, unsuccessfully of course, however this causes the time to change by a few hours and can only be changed by completely restarting my phone.

At first I thought it must be a phone issue but when it happened on my Partners phone, clearly its a network issue.

Can you advise as to the solution?

Regards,

Phill Capey.

Hi @Chillers,

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing this, especially while travelling. I can completely understand how frustrating it must be, particularly if it’s affecting both devices.

From what you’ve described, this is usually related to automatic network selection or time zone updates triggered by network signals while roaming, rather than a fault with the phones themselves.

Please try the following steps:

• Go to Settings → Mobile Network → Network Selection
• Turn Automatic OFF and manually select a Spanish network (e.g. Movistar, Orange, Vodafone ES)
• Go to Date & Time settings and turn ON “Set automatically”
• Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds, then OFF
• Restart the phone after selecting a Spanish network manually
• Ensure Data Roaming is ON for your roaming service to function correctly

Additional tip:

If your phone briefly connects to a weak or incorrect roaming signal, it can sometimes cause the time zone to jump incorrectly — manually locking onto a Spanish network usually prevents this.
