Good Afternoon All,

Debating picking up an iWatch finally to help with tracking my fitness, I’m aware ID Mobile don’t do plans with iWatches but I want to know if the Watch would still track all my exercise/running BOTH on the Watch and iPhone?

M thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @JoA2506

If you decide to get an Apple Watch, I do recommend getting a Wi-Fi option, this will allow the watch to connect to your device and track your daily exercises and so on.

Hi Gemma,

Ive looked online for ones with WiFi but I’m getting no results, is WiFi on Apple Watches the norm or a feature I need to look for?

Many thanks

Hi @JoA2506,

The one which I am referring to is GPS. You are able to go to any Apple store or store that sells Apple Watches, ask them for a GPS watch, they will be able to assist you with that.

Hi @JoA2506

Yes, most Apple Watch models have Wi‑Fi capability and GPS.

Apple Watch Series 3 and later

Can connect to 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi networks.

If you have a GPS + Cellular model, it can also use cellular data when Wi‑Fi isn’t available.

Apple Watch SE (1st & 2nd gen) and Series 8 / Ultra / 9

Support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi (some newer models support faster 5 GHz connections).

Wi‑Fi allows the watch to send messages, receive notifications, and use apps when your iPhone isn’t nearby.

Limitations

The watch can’t join public Wi‑Fi networks that require a browser login (like hotels or coffee shops) unless your iPhone has connected to them first.

It will automatically use Wi‑Fi over Bluetooth if available, even when your iPhone isn’t nearby.

The experience depends on the model of Smartwatch and type of Wi‑Fi network.
