missing calls

Good morning,

For some reason when I receive calls, my phone doesn’t ring and doesn’t go to voicemail either. I just get a message to say missed call from ‘number’ - I have tried all the relevant steps. Ie. Resetting phone, checking for do not disturb and airplane mode and nothing has sorted the issue.

I also have problems calling some contacts too. Please can you assist.

    Hi @ConCrocombe ,

Could you please test the SIM card in another phone to see if the same issue occurs? Also, check whether you are able to make and receive calls without any problems.

Yes the same issue occurs. I can call some people without issues as well as receiving but 8 times out of 10 I can’t receive or call people, it’s generally the same people. So could this be people outside of my network perhaps?

I really need this sorted though as it’s my work phone, and I am losing work and customers as a result of this.

    Hi @ConCrocombe ,

We can try a replacement SIM card to see if this resolves the issue for you.

You can contact our Live Chat team via https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat, and they will be able to arrange a replacement SIM card and help check whether this resolves the problem.

This hasn’t helped at all… the live bots are useless and have said they are unable to help.

    Hi @ConCrocombe

I’m sorry you’re still experiencing these calling issues I can appreciate how disruptive it is when calls don’t ring or fail to connect properly.

Given you’ve already tried the basics (restart, Do Not Disturb, Airplane Mode), here are more detailed steps to help isolate and fix the issue:

    1. Force the network to stabilise (important step)

    • Go to Settings → Mobile Service / Cellular → Voice & Data
    • Set to 4G/LTE only (disable 5G temporarily)
    • Restart the phone afterwards

This helps rule out switching issues between 4G/5G that can cause missed calls or call drops.

    2. Reset network settings (more in-depth than a restart)

    This clears hidden connection faults:

    • Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone
    • Tap Reset → Reset Network Settings
    • Enter passcode and confirm

    3. Check call forwarding & voicemail routing

Sometimes missed calls not reaching voicemail can be caused by forwarding settings:

    • Go to Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding (ensure OFF)
    • Dial voicemail manually to check it is active
    • Ensure no call-blocking apps or spam filters are interfering

    4. SIM / eSIM refresh

    • If physical SIM: remove it, wait 30 seconds, reinsert and restart
    • If eSIM: toggle mobile line OFF and ON in settings, then restart device

    5. Carrier settings update

    • Go to Settings → General → About
    • Wait 30 seconds — if an update is available, a prompt will appear

    6. Test for network registration issue

    • Switch Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds → OFF
    • Watch if signal fully re-registers (4G/5G bars + network name appear)

    7. Final isolation test

    If possible:

    • Test your SIM in another handset
    • Or test another SIM in your phone

This quickly confirms whether the fault is SIM/network-related or device-specific.

If after all of the above you’re still experiencing missed calls, failed outgoing calls, or voicemail not triggering correctly, we would need to run deeper checks on your line and the local network routing.

At that point, please contact our Live Chat or social media support so we can investigate your account and recent network connection logs in detail.
