Monthly plan costs question

I am currently with Asda mobile. Sim only.  I normally alternate between two types of bundle depending how much data I might need.   If I don’t buy a bundle immediately when the previous one has run out, I go into PAYG rates until I buy my next monthly bundle.

What happens with ID mobile?  If I have paid for a bundle with X amount of data and it runs out tonight, what happens tomorrow?  Do I immediately stay on the same type of ID Mobile monthly plan?  Do I go into a flat rate PAYG tariff?  Can I wait for example 48 hours and buy my next ID Mobile monthly plan?  Thanks 🙂

Okay @Ingerland, everything you describe doing at ASDA mobile, can be done with an iD Mobile PAYG account.

It would depend on whether you chose an iD pay monthly SIM only contract, or an iD pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SIM, @Ingerland

If you use an iD PAYG SIM - without an auto-renewing bundle/plan - when your bundle/plan expires, you are charged the iD standard PAYG rates for calls, texts and data, until you purchase another bundle/plan.

But if I am pay monthly?  Is that permanently on an auto renew?  Asda monthly bundles are great.  If it runs out I do not have to auto renew; I can leave it a few days.  If I do so I have to pay PAYG rates until I get a new bundle.  With ID Mobile can I change my monthly ‘bundle’ depending upon my needs?  Towards the end of one month can I decide to change to a different ID mobile monthly bundle.  Apologies for using Asda terminology 😁

The ID mobile PAYG bundles do not appear to be as good as the ID mobile monthly bundles.

That’s correct, @Ingerland

Although iD Mobile offer PAYG, they nudge (by pricing) customers to their pay monthly products.

On the flip-side, the iD PAYG rates look much lower than at ASDA mobile.

Thank you for your help 👍🏻.  I have looked for T&Cs etc to find these answers for myself but I failed miserably 😁. With the pay monthly products, is it like Asda that I can change the next months product?  If one month I had a ID Mobile 4Gb plan, could I change to a 12 Gb for the next month before the 4Gb has expired?

I just called the ID Mobile sales line.   They said that if I do not renew my monthly contract at the end of a month, then the number is discontinued.  In other words, I no longer have a mobile phone service.  I guess that is what I like about the Asda PAYG bundles; if I don’t renew for some reason I just go into normal PAYG rates until I renew my bundle - at a time which is convenient to me.

Not sure that’s correct, @Ingerland

Looking at section 10 (“Suspension and termination of the Agreement”) and section 12 (“Charges”), of the current iD Mobile PAYG terms & conditions, it states:

In addition, there isn’t a MONTHLY CONTRACT with an iD PAYG SIM, so no need whatsoever to renew each month.

Perhaps, ASDA mobile have a better customer service team, along with a telephone support helpline - that’s worth a little extra.
