My hot-spot isn't working

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with your hotspot — let’s get this sorted.
 

Since you’re with iD Mobile, hotspot (tethering) is included on most plans, so it should work unless there’s a settings or network issue.
 

Let’s check a few quick things:

  1. Mobile data is working

Can you browse the internet on your phone using mobile data (Wi-Fi turned off)?

If not, the issue may be with your data connection rather than hotspot.
 

  1. Hotspot is switched on correctly

On iPhone:

Settings → Personal Hotspot

Toggle Allow Others to Join

Make sure Mobile Data is turned on

On Android:

Settings → Network & Internet → Hotspot & Tethering

Turn on Wi-Fi Hotspot

  1. Check signal strength

Hotspot won’t work properly if your 4G/5G signal is weak. Try:

Moving near a window

Restarting your phone

Turning Airplane mode on for 30 seconds, then off

  1. Restart both devices

Turn off:

  • Your phone
  • The device you're trying to connect (laptop/tablet)
  • Then turn them back on and reconnect.
