network provider services on iPhone - underneath Data roaming toggle

My number has now ported over.  Data roaming is toggled on, and when you got into network provider services on iPhone, underneath the Data roaming toggle, it says iD Services,  ‘Mail’, then what looks like a mobile number - what’s this mobile number?

Hi @Mackie65

Thanks for the detail I’ll clear this up properly for you.

What you’re seeing under “Network Provider Services” → “iD Services” → “Mail” on your iPhone is not something to worry about, and it’s not a second active number on your account.

📱 What that number actually is

That number is typically:

  • A network service number linked to iD Mobile (often used for things like voicemail or carrier services)
  • Or a carrier identification number stored on the SIM/eSIM for service routing

It can sometimes look like a normal mobile number, but it isn’t your usable number and you won’t be billed for it.

✅ What matters

Since you’ve said:

  • Your number has successfully ported over ✔️
  • Roaming is enabled ✔️

That means your service is set up correctly.

Your actual number is the one that:

  • Shows in Settings → Phone → My Number
  • Is the one people can call/text you on

👍 Quick optional check (recommended)

Just to be thorough:

  • Go to Settings → Messages → Send & Receive
  • Make sure your ported number is ticked

If not please follow the instructions on the link below:
