HI @Joe Hutson

Thank you for getting in touch. We’re sorry to hear that you’re currently experiencing issues with your service.

If your SIM is still in your old phone and you are only able to use WiFi calling, it may be related to network coverage, phone settings, or the SIM connection. Please try restarting your phone and ensuring that mobile data and network selection are turned on in your settings.

You can also check the coverage in your area using the following link:
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage

Additionally, you may want to try the following steps:
Reinsert your SIM or try it in another phone. This will help determine whether the issue is with the handset or the SIM card.

For iPhone (iOS) – Reset Network Settings:
Go to Settings → General.
Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Confirm the reset when prompted.
Once complete, return to the home screen and restart your iPhone.

For Samsung – Reset Network Settings:
From the Home screen, swipe up to access Apps → Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Operators.
Turn Select Automatically on or off.
Alternatively:
Go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Confirm by tapping Reset Settings.

Thank you,

Zandile

Hi @ProjectSCCupra

Thank you for getting in touch, and I’m sorry to hear that the issue is still ongoing despite trying the troubleshooting steps provided.

I completely understand how frustrating it must be not being able to make or receive calls, texts, or maintain a stable data connection.

As you’ve already completed the basic troubleshooting, please try the following additional steps:

  • Turn your phone off completely and remove the SIM card
  • Leave it out for around 2–3 minutes, then reinsert it securely
  • Power the device back on and allow it a few minutes to reconnect to the network
  • Ensure Airplane Mode is switched off
  • Go into settings and set Network Selection to Automatic
  • If possible, test the SIM in another unlocked device to rule out a handset-related issue

If the SIM still does not work after this, it may indicate we may need to investigate the issue even further

We understand how important it is to stay connected, and we’re here to help get this resolved for you as quickly as possible. If the issue persists please do contact us via Live Chat or social platform direct message.

Hi Owethu, thank you for the reply and the guidance you offered. I have tried that and it still did not work. It may be worth noting that when I was visiting Romania I had very poor reception and sporadic internet. It is better now I have returned but I now have no calls or texts at all.

Hi @ProjectSCCupra

I do apologise that you unable to make or receive calls however I can confirm that the number has moved over. Please check if the number under settings is showing correctly:

For iPhone:
- Please go to Settings> Phone> My Number.
- Please change it to the number you wish to keep. It might not allow to change or save immediately.
- If the number does not change kindly open the Settings app. Tap General. Scroll down to the bottom of the list. Tap Reset. The "Reset" option is at the bottom of the Settings menu. ... Tap Reset Network Settings. Enter your passcode if prompted, then tap Reset Network Settings to confirm your choice. This will help.

For android:
To check or update the number shown on your Android device, please follow the steps below:

📱 Check your phone number in settings
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap About Phone or About Device
3. Select Status
4. Tap My phone number
📌 On some devices, this may appear under SIM Status or SIM Card Status within the Status menu.

💬 Update number in Messages app (if applicable)
If your number is showing incorrectly in messaging:
1. Open the Messages app
2. Tap More (⋮)
3. Select Settings
4. Tap Advanced
5. Select Phone number
6. Enter the correct number associated with your SIM
7. Tap OK to save

🔄 If the number is still incorrect

Please try the following:
* Remove the SIM card
* Restart the device
* Reinsert the SIM card
* Check again in Phone Settings

🔍 Further troubleshooting

If the issue persists after rebooting:
* Insert the SIM into a different device
* Send a text message and check whether it displays:
- Your correct (ported) number, or
- The temporary number

This will help determine whether the issue is with the SIM or the handset.
