Painfully Slow Data - Anyone Have A Solution?

Hi guys, I know this is a common issue with ID and has been asked before but has anyone had any luck with getting faster data speeds?

My data download speeds at home are painfully slow at time. Below 10Mb/s.

I’ve tried the sim in 2 phones and a mobile router and it’s exactly the same on each.

Funny thing is, I have a Three SIM in my work iPhone and I get around 70-80Mb/s.

The coverage checker says I should be getting excellent 4G.

It’s really frustrating.

Thanks.

Hi @ThirtySixteen

Thanks for your post I completely understand how frustrating slow data speeds can be, especially when the coverage checker shows you should be getting a strong connection.

iD Mobile uses the same network infrastructure as Three, so in most cases you should see similar speeds and coverage. However, there are a few important points to be aware of.

Firstly, speeds can vary depending on network demand. During busier periods or in more congested areas, data speeds can drop significantly, sometimes even below 10Mbps, despite showing good signal strength . This can affect things like WhatsApp calls and streaming.

Secondly, while coverage may be listed as “excellent,” this only reflects signal availability not guaranteed speeds. Factors such as indoor use, building materials, and distance from the nearest mast can all impact performance.

It’s also worth noting that iD Mobile operates as a virtual network. In some cases, during high traffic periods, the host network may prioritise its direct customers, which can result in slower speeds for iD users

Please try the below to see if this betters the service:

On Android:

  • Go to Settings > Connections (or Mobile Networks) > Network Mode > select 4G/LTE only.

On iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Voice & Data > select 4G (or LTE).
