Paying bill/ changing direct debit collction date

Hi, I’m slightly confused as to what’s going on. There’s been times where i’ve paid two payments back to back, yet it still says i have outstanding balance. I’d also like to change my direct debit date to the 7th of every month but it doesn’t seem to let me change it that early in the month. Please help
