Phone not receiving or taking calls

For quite a few months I’ve been having an issue where my phone won’t take or receive calls, and it’s becoming an issue because I’m now missing important phone calls. I’ve tried to restart my phone, where it then starts working for a bit then it immediately stops working again. I’ve also tried to enable voLTE but I can’t find that option anywhere in the mobile data settings. I’ve tried contacting iD Mobile directly and downloading a new eSIM and that hasn’t worked. I just upgraded from an iPhone 13 to a 17 pro max and I’m still not receiving or taking calls properly. Has anyone else had this problem and if so has anyone fixed it?

Hi @JakeE

Sorry to hear this, does this happen everywhere you go or just in a certain location(s)?

Have you tried the following?

Thank you so much for the reply!

For me it just seems to happen randomly but it’s so unreliable, sometimes it will work and sometimes my phone will send people to voicemail immediately and just leave me a text even though i haven’t got silence unknown callers on. It even happens with my saved numbers too. I haven’t noticed it happening more often at certain places to be honest. I’ve tried the troubleshooting in the link and also resetting the network settings and re-entering my phone number in the settings too and it doesn’t help either.

Hi @JakeE

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble making calls and that the service has been unreliable.

Could you please try the steps below and let us know if you notice any improvement?

Press Settings.
Press Mobile Service.
Press Network Selection.
Press the indicator next to "Automatic" to turn automatic network selection on or off.
If you turn off the function, press the required network which will be iD mobile.
Slide your finger upwards starting from the bottom of the screen to return to the home screen.
Wait few minutes and try test services again.

Thank you for your reply!

I’ve tried this and tested it after and it still doesn’t work. My sister and mum said their phones rung but when they answered they couldn’t hear me, however on my end it wasn’t even dialling. My mum then called me back but my phone never rung and it sent me a message saying i missed a call again. My dad managed to ring me but she i answered i couldn’t hear him. All of us are with iD and its affecting all of us except my mum who has a samsung so i don’t know if its an issue with Apple?

Thank you @JakeE

When you switched to a iPhone 17 did you continue with the eSIM or switch back to a physical SIM?
