Please help, cannot recieve text messages

I cannot receive any text messages from my phone. I can make calls and send texts but I can’t receive them. I’ve tried turning my phone on and off, switching on aeroplane mode and tried to ask the chat bot but didn’t get far. How can I sort this?

What phone do you have?

Is it ALL texts or just those from contacts that are on a certain network?
3 months ago there was a problem with iD Mobile customers not receiving texts from people on the O2 network (inclusing giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile and Lycamobile) but this seems to have been rectified.


If you want to try the Live chat again, type ‘talk to a person’ in the dialogue box so that you connect to an adviser rather than going round in circles with the chatbot.

I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your services. Please try the steps below, depending on the type of phone you have:

 

For Android:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General Management
  3. Tap Reset
  4. Select Reset network settings

For iPhone:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Phone
  • Tap My Number
  • Delete the old number
  • Enter the new/current number
  • Tap Save

Then follow these steps to refresh iMessage:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Messages
  3. Turn iMessage OFF
  4. Go to Settings > General
  5. Tap Reset
  6. Choose Reset Network Settings
  7. Once your iPhone restarts, go back to Settings
  8. Tap Messages
  9. Turn iMessage ON again
