Porting In didnt happen

On signing up online, I requested a port in to be activated on 24/12.   I have checked since and it is confirmed on my contract information,   Needless to say the port in did not happen.    I have switched everything off and on, but no!    Where do I go from here?

Mobile number porting (transferring your number) slows down or stops completely over Christmas and New Year because transfers only happen on working weekdays, not weekends or public holidays like Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Expect delays, with ports requested just before the holidays potentially taking days longer to complete as processes restart on the first working day after the break, often meaning a wait until early January for normal service.

the 24th is a normal working day and not a holiday.  If ID cannot transfer then they should block out the date for the request.  If this doesnt port today then I will be paying two lots of line rental

Hi @Tigrr,

I understand your frustration. Although 24 December is a normal working day, number transfers can still be delayed during the Christmas period due to reduced processing across networks. If the port does not complete today, it should resume on the next working day once normal operations restart.

Please rest assured you won’t be charged twice for the same number , once the port completes, billing will align correctly. We’ll continue to monitor the transfer and notify you as soon as it’s completed.

I will be charged twice as my charge on the other network is tomorrow for one month.     When you request a port date and you receive confirmation it will happen then it should happen, if delays are expected then you should also be advised of that too.   When you try and talk to someone on live chat they are also on other chats so a conversation is frustratingly slow.    Now regretting this move.

You’ll receive a refund for all the days that month your number wasn’t available. So if your port arrives a day later than expected you’ll get a refund equivalent to 29 days’ line rental from your previous provider. This should always be factored into port arrangements. Also, avoid porting your number on a Friday or right before the holidays. If anything goes wrong with the port you’ll be without a working mobile for a while.

Compensation if your switch is delayed

If the switch takes more than one working day or there is an abuse of the process by your provider, you are entitled to reasonable compensation from your provider. Providers must inform customers how to access this compensation and how it will be paid.
