Question

removing Voicemail name

Is there a way to remove the recorded name part of the voicemail? The system won’t accept dead air as an answer, so the only other option is to make a random noise, I don’t want to provide someone calling me with a name or number just an automated ‘I can’t answer the phone leave a message’ etc.

Hi @micdon

Can’t you just record the ‘name’ part of the message with ‘the owner of this number’ or something similar that is non specific? A ‘name’ is required in the set-up of your voicemail as, at this time, there are no options to set up a generic greeting.
I am assuming, that when the mjority of people get connected to someones voicemail they already know that the person they are calling is not available and if they want to leave a message they will do so.
Usually, like myself, if they wish to have their call returned they will only hear ‘You have reached the voicemail of blah blah blah blah…….’ whilst they are trying to compose a succinct message in their head.

Apologies if this is not what you wanted to hear but it is the only option at this time.

Goof luck x

not really, I guess I’ll just cough into the phone when it asks for my name and leave it at that.

This is a let down, I have recording my own message, I've always had the standard network message, its a shame ID do not offer that. Looks like I'm switching voicemail off.

Hi @Manni

Thank you for getting in touch.

The recorded name is part of the voicemail setup process and unfortunately it cannot be completely removed. The system requires a short recording to be saved, which is why it does not accept silence.

If you prefer not to record your name, you could record a short neutral sound or brief message instead, such as a tone or a simple greeting, which will still allow the voicemail to work without sharing personal details.

Thank you,
