Hi

I have been in Spain and Portugal for the last 4 weeks and have been unable to make or receive phone calls. I’ve checked all my settings and they seem correct. Is someone your end able to look into my problem and either fix it or suggest the solution.

Don’t know if it’s relevant but mid August I had too download another eSim as my phone was wiped.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Sian

Thanks for taking the time to reply and apologies for the delay in coming back.

I have managed to solve the problem by disabling the “enable 2G protection” feature.

Warm regards

Hi @Chimbembe,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues making and receiving calls while you’re in Portugal.

Firstly, when roaming in Portugal, your phone needs to be connected to either NOS or MEO for calls and texts to work properly. It’s worth going into your network settings and manually selecting one of these if it hasn’t connected automatically.

Also, it’s really important to check how the numbers are being dialled:

  • UK numbers should start with +44 / 0044
  • Portuguese numbers should start with 00351

If the number isn’t in the correct international format, calls may not connect properly.

One other thing to be aware of is your bill cap. If you’re trying to call non-UK or non-standard numbers while roaming, you may need to increase your bill cap temporarily, otherwise outgoing calls can be restricted.

As this is a public platform, I’m unable to access your account directly, but if you’ve tried the above and are still having issues, feel free to let us know and we can look into it further with you

Regards,
