Sim not working??

I have just purchased an IPhone 16 & new sim but the phone doesn’t seem to recognise the sim. I have checked and it has been activated. I can’t send or receive text messages and have never had a signal no matter where I have been. I need to transfer my old number and have the PAC code but can’t do it via the app as it sends a verification text and I can’t receive them!! 2 weeks in and I am still using my old phone!!

I have tried using the discussion forum but the options it suggests aren’t appearing on my phone which brings me to the conclusion that my phone doesn’t think it has a working sim??

I’m really sorry you’ve had this issue for two weeks. I can completely understand how frustrating it must be, especially when you’re unable to use your new phone properly or transfer your number.
 

Let’s try a few checks first to get your SIM recognised on the iPhone 16:

Restart the iPhone
Go to Settings > Mobile Service and check if the iD SIM appears at all
Toggle Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then off
Check Settings > Mobile Service > Network Selection and set to Automatic
If it’s an eSIM, confirm whether it shows as “Activated” or “No SIM”
Reset network settings: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings
 

Also, please try removing and reinserting the SIM (if physical SIM) and test again.

I have tried all of your suggestion but have been unsuccessful.

In Settings>Mobile Service there is no Network showing.

Disappointedly I am still waiting for someone to get back to me on this. I have replied to the private message which also hasn’t been responded to.

We cannot see a private message sent from your profile, can you please check again via the below steps.
 

To find it, click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select ‘Private Messages’.

Can you also check the SIM in another device and see if that is working
