I have just had this sms message..

“you’ve now used 80% of your plans. Data allowance. this does not include any add-ons you may have. If you exceed your allowance you’ll be charged 10.24p per megabyte. stay in control of your usage with the ID mobile app.”

Now, as per the attached image. It seems to say I have 5.7 GB free still, out of a monthly allowance of 15 GB.
But if I have used 80% of my plans that is 12 GB used. So that’s 3GB left not 5.7GB!
can anybody explain what this all means? Many thanks

Hi @Pete2000,

Thanks for your message, I completely understand why this looks confusing at first glance.

The SMS you’ve received is only referring to your main 15GB plan allowance. So, when it says you’ve used 80%, it’s based purely on that core data allowance and works out at around 12GB used from your plan.

However, the figure you’re seeing in the app is your total available data. This can include your main allowance as well as any extra data you may have, such as add-ons, promotional boosts, or rollover data from a previous month. That’s why the app is still showing around 5.7GB remaining even though the text message suggests something different.

Because of this, the two figures don’t always match up directly, as they are looking at slightly different things. The SMS is a simple alert based on your main plan usage, while the app gives you a full breakdown of everything you can still use.

The best and most accurate place to keep track of your remaining data is always the iD Mobile app, as it will show your full balance in real time and include any extras you’ve got available.

Hopefully that helps clear things up for you, but if you’d like us to double-check your account or explain anything further, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Many thanks for explaining that.

I had not factored in rollover and it now makes a lot more sense. As you say, it’s best if I refer to the app for real time status

Thanks again, cheers Pete :-)
