Question

Voicemail gets disabled when abroad

Hi

I'm using my UK number to run my business while in Canada. I set voicemail when I leave the UK saying contact us via email/Whatsapp ect. The issue is it gets deactivated after time and just says cannot connect your call, so I loose those new leads ect.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Many thanks

Josh

    Hi @Cubsfanforever,

I completely understand how important it is to keep your voicemail working, especially for your business while you’re abroad.

What you’re experiencing can sometimes happen when the phone is not actively registered on the network for an extended period, or if voicemail diverts reset while roaming.

    Please try the following:
Restart your phone and ensure data roaming is ON
Manually select a network in Canada (e.g. Rogers, Bell, or Telus)
Dial +447953222222 to re-check voicemail service
Call your own number and re-set your voicemail greeting from scratch
Make sure conditional call forwarding to voicemail is still active

Voicemail itself is network-based, so if your phone loses registration with the UK network for long periods while abroad, voicemail settings can sometimes reset or temporarily fail. This can interrupt messages and lead to callers hearing “cannot connect” instead.
