Why am I being charged for roaming data when I am within my limit?

If you're seeing roaming charges despite believing you're within your allowance, there are a few possible reasons this can happen:

  • Add-on not fully active at the time of use – sometimes data is used before the roaming pack is fully registered on the network.
  • Usage outside the add-on allowance – certain services (e.g. background app updates, MMS, system data) may not be included.
  • Incorrect network connection abroad – the phone may briefly connect to a non-partner or non-eligible network before switching.
  • Bill cap or spend limit reached – once your cap is hit, additional usage can be charged or blocked depending on settings
  • Data session delays – usage can be recorded slightly after it occurs, making it look like it’s outside your allowance window

 

We’d recommend checking your usage breakdown in your iD Mobile account to see exactly what services are being charged.
