Question

Why does ID mobile internet not work where Three does?

I have an ID mobile SIM, I've been looking to switch because my Internet connection is so poor, and I was sat with a friend whose 3 internet was working brilliant, so thought I'd take a look at 3, only to remember that ID mobile is on 3 network.

So why would her phone get great data reception where I get none?

More details are required for an accurate response... maybe your friend's phone is using 5G, whereas yours is LTE or worse? Maybe one of you is set up to use WiFi Calling, the other not?

Maybe your device is the problem and not the network.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with iD Mobile or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. Did my comment help answer your question? If so, don't forget to mark the response as the Most Helpful Answer.

What settings would affect data signal?

    Hi Paul,

Sorry to confuse the issue… WiFi calling should have no effect on data speed; I misread your original post.

If you temporarily disable WiFi (yes, WiFi, not WiFi calling) does your phone’s status bar show you are in fact getting 5G?

Another test you might wish to do is to temporarily swap sims with your friend and see if that changes things around - if so then it would suggest the issue is with the sim, if not it would suggest there’s something up with your phone.

It might help others to know what model phone you have. I only really know about Samsung Galaxy S23-S25.
