Bill Cap Increased on App added cost to my next bill - why?

Used the App to increase my bill cap (limit any extra usage charges) from £5 to £12 and noticed it put the extra £7 straight on my next bill. I wasn’t expecting that - I haven’t incurred any extra charges and may not but wanted to increased it to cover receiving banking texts when traveling in NZ. Is this normal or a glitch?

Changing your bill cap doesn’t add any charges to your bill. However, if you increase your bill cap and your future bill does increase, then you’ve definitely incurred additional charges.
