Cancelled Direct Debit

I haven't had a plan with ID for a while now and noticed there was a direct debit still in my bank account. I have cancelled it but have now been contacted saying I'm still owing. How can this be?

Thanks

Vikki

Cancelling the direct debit doesn’t cancel the plan. Instead, you’ll default, damage your credit rating and be pursued by a debt collection agency for the outstanding balance.

    Hi @VK94

Thank you for getting in touch with us, I understand your concern regarding the direct debit and the outstanding balance showing on your account, especially as you haven’t had an active plan with us for some time.

Cancelling the direct debit with your bank will stop future payments, however it doesn’t automatically close the account or clear any remaining balance. Any charges that were due before the direct debit was cancelled would still remain payable.

To help clarify this fully, we’d be happy to review your account and explain exactly where the outstanding balance has come from, please send us a private message to look into this.

    Thank you,

    Zandile,
