Change of ownership

I know my son cannot do a change of ownership from me to him but would he be able to take out his own contract and keep his number?  what's the process?  Do I cancel the account we have currently set up?

    Hi @Teddy08,

    Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to transfer ownership of an iD Mobile account to another person, as the contract and credit agreement were approved using the original account holder's details.

It's also not possible to transfer a mobile number from one iD Mobile account to another iD Mobile account, as iD Mobile doesn't support internal number transfers.

If your son takes out his own iD Mobile contract, he wouldn't be able to keep the number that's currently on your account.

If your son needs to manage the account or discuss it with us, you can request Third Party Access. This allows us to speak with him about the account, but it doesn't transfer ownership of the account or mobile number.

You can find more information and the relevant form here - https://www.idmobile.co.uk/legal/accessibility, under Third party bill management.

I hope this helps clarify the options available.

    Regards,

Thanks for your answer - so that means we would need to change providers for him to keep that number?  if so that seems a shame as you will loose business.

    Hi @Teddy08.

Thank you for your response. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If your son is interested in a deal with iD Mobile but he wants to keep his existing mobile number, he can do a triangle port.

This means he can port his mobile number over to another provider for a short period of time and then back to the deal that he wants as our systems does not support transferring a mobile number internally from one to another.

    Thanks,

    Marquerita
