Yes, using your iD Mobile service in Guernsey can incur roaming charges, as Guernsey is not included within iD Mobile’s inclusive EU roaming destinations despite being part of the British Isles.

Because of this, calls, texts, and mobile data usage there may be charged at out-of-plan roaming rates.

To help avoid any unexpected charges whilst travelling, we’d strongly recommend setting your Bill Cap to £0.00 before travelling if you do not wish to use chargeable roaming services.

You can do this through:

• The iD Mobile app
• Your online account
• Bills > Manage Bill Cap

We’d also recommend reviewing the iD Mobile roaming information page before travelling so you can check the latest charges and roaming details for Guernsey:

But as guernsey is in band one i thought it would be included??

As you are able to see in the below picture, Guernsey is listed within Band 1 roaming destinations. This means roaming services are available there, however, it is important to note that this does not necessarily mean usage is included within your standard UK allowances in the same way as EU inclusive roaming destinations, as there are certain services that can cause unexpected charges, such as calling or texting local numbers in Guernsey..

Because roaming charges can still apply depending on your plan and usage in Guernsey, we would strongly recommend reviewing the roaming rates and keeping an eye on your usage whilst travelling.

How can I find out by looking at my app

In the iD Mobile app you can check roaming and usage by:

Opening the iD Mobile app
Going to “My Plan” or “Usage”
Selecting “Roaming / Abroad usage” (if shown)
Checking your data, calls, and texts usage breakdown
 

If Guernsey is treated as a roaming destination on your plan, the app may still show usage under your normal allowances, but it won’t always clearly show whether charges apply as that part is usually only confirmed in the roaming rates section.
