I'm sorry to hear about the unexpected charges.

Even if you turned Data Roaming off when you arrived, charges can still occur if the phone used data before the setting was disabled, or if chargeable services such as calls, texts, voicemail, or background network activity took place while connected to the roaming network.

It's also worth noting that turning Data Roaming off doesn't necessarily prevent all roaming-related charges. To fully protect against unexpected charges, we'd recommend setting your bill cap to £0.00 before travelling.

You can check what the £45 charge relates to by reviewing your itemised bill in the iD Mobile app or your online account.
