FRAUD - someone at iD mobile set up a new contract for a stranger and HAD ME PAY FOR IT

For the first time in my life, I had to call the police. 

I've got a letter from iD Mobile I have outstanding balance so I wanted to fix it, confused because I never missed a payment before. 

Turns out it's not for my number. 

iD Mobile let that stranger set up a Direct Debit in my name! And its been charging me money for over a year until that random person cancelled the direct debit and now I'M BEING CHASED TO PAY FOR THEM.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I'm absolutely bewildered. I can't do anything until the fraud team looks into it but the fact this happened in the first place is DISGUSTING.

I want this fixed but in the meantime NOONE SHOULD TRUST ID MOBILE WITH THEIR DETAILS.
