Hi @Pete2000
You are correct in your thinking!
This is what you will find if you get the information off the iD Mobile site:-
Great news! France is one of our free Roaming destinations which means that you can use your monthly data allowance and add-ons at no extra cost, up to 30GB.

Make sure that you have Roaming set up on your phone and account:-
There is a fair use policy with regards to Roaming:-

Another thing to be aware of is if you are visiting an area in France that is on the coast then you may inadvertantly connect to a maritime satellite without realising it. These are the charges for doing so:-
Ships, ferries and cruise liners.
When you’re at sea, we recommend you don’t use your phone, and put it in flight/airplane mode until you get to shore. This is because using your phone while at sea can be very expensive.
Ferry and cruise operators often use their own phone network that’s operated via satellite. Connecting to a satellite network is much more expensive then connecting to a land operated network.

To ensure that you don’t get hit with any excess charges then you can set your bill cap to a £ that only covers the cost of your contract for the duration of your visit:-
Hope this answers your question!
