I always get “message failed to send” when I’m trying to send photos via sms. I know it should charge me for sending photos which im fine with as I don’t do it often but it doesn’t actually let me do it. The message just refuses send and it doesn’t charge me. Any idea why?

Hi @GregB595

Thank you for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues when trying to send photos via SMS (MMS).

As MMS messages are chargeable and require an active roaming/usage allowance, we would first recommend ensuring your Bill Cap is set above £0, as a £0 cap can restrict chargeable services such as MMS.

Please also try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Restart your handset.
  • Toggle Airplane Mode on for 60 seconds, then switch it off.
  • Ensure mobile data is turned ON (MMS requires a data connection even when using SMS).
  • Check that MMS messaging is enabled:
    • iPhone: Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging (ON)
    • Android: Messages > Settings > Advanced > MMS (ON)
  • Ensure your APN settings are correct for iD Mobile (can be reset in network settings).
  • Try sending the image to a different contact to rule out a recipient issue.
  • Remove and reinsert your SIM card if applicable.

If the issue continues after trying the above, please contact our Live Chat Team or send us a direct message via our social media platforms so we can investigate further on your account.
