Hi, I have turned off data roaming for my holiday in Zanzibar, as I have downloaded and paid for a diff e-sim. Will I be charged through IDmobile? And what do I need to do in order to avoid being charged

    Hi @rah.kiki

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry for any confusion regarding your roaming settings.

Please be aware that turning off Data Roaming on your handset does not necessarily prevent the iD Mobile SIM from connecting to a mobile network. If the iD Mobile SIM remains active in your handset, it may still connect to a roaming network and can potentially receive calls and texts or use other chargeable services.

To help avoid unexpected charges while using your separate travel eSIM, we'd recommend:

    • Set your iD Mobile Bill Cap to £0 before travelling. This will prevent chargeable out-of-plan usage on your iD Mobile account.
    • Switch off the iD Mobile SIM/eSIM completely in your handset's SIM settings while you're using your alternative travel eSIM.
    • Make sure your travel eSIM is selected as the default SIM for mobile data.
    • If you don't need to receive calls or texts on your iD Mobile number while abroad, keeping the iD Mobile SIM switched off will help prevent it from connecting to the network.

Please also be aware that if the iD Mobile SIM remains active, your handset may still connect to a network and use data in the background, even when you're not actively using your phone.

We hope this helps you avoid any unexpected iD Mobile roaming charges during your holiday.
