Question

speak with an ID employee

I literally just upgraded my plan from 60GB to 100GB. And instantly it showed that I had already used 9.7GB

How can opening the ID app consume roughly 10% of my data already?

    Hi @Kenneth Haugaard,

It wouldn't be possible for simply opening the iD Mobile app to use 9.7GB of data, so it's likely that data has been used by your device or apps and is now being reflected against the new plan allowance.

To see what's using the most data:

    iPhone

    1. Go to Settings > Mobile Data.
    2. Scroll down to view data usage by app.
    3. Check which apps have used the most data.
    4. Turn off mobile data for apps that don't need it.

    Android

    1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage (or Connections > Data Usage).
    2. Tap Mobile Data Usage.
    3. Review which apps are consuming the most data.
    4. Restrict background usage for any apps using excessive amounts.

    Tips to save data

    • Connect to Wi-Fi whenever possible.
    • Enable Low Data Mode (iPhone) or Data Saver (Android).
    • Disable app auto-updates over mobile data.
    • Restrict background app refresh/syncing.
    • Check whether cloud backups, photo syncing, or streaming apps are using data in the background.

If you'd like us to investigate the usage further and confirm what's been recorded on the network, please contact our Customer Service Team via Live Chat: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Hi Gemma, thank you. However, I ran out of data, hence the upgrade, which i did via WiFi. When I then opened the app, it showed  9.7/100.

And I understand now, that 9.7GB us actually the remaining available data. How come didn't I get the full 100GB?
