This guide will help you set up your new iPhone, whether you want to set it up as new or transfer any data from your old phone.

To get started, turn on your iPhone by pressing and holding the power button until it boots up. Once it’s ready, follow these steps to set it up. Some steps might be slightly different from what you see though, because iOS can change between iPhone versions.

1. Press the Home button (below the screen).
2. Pick the language you want to use.
3. Choose the Country or Region you're in.
4. If you've got an iPad or iPhone running iOS 11 already, bring it close to the new phone to set it up automatically. If not, tap Set Up Manually.

5. Pick your home Wi-Fi network from the list. You can use your mobile connection to get the phone set up, but it'll be downloading a lot of data, and that could use up a lot of your allowance.
6. Type in the Wi-Fi password then tap Join.
7. When you see a tick beside the network name, the phone's connected. Tap Next.
8. ‘Touch ID’ is Apple's fingerprint recognition, which can be used to unlock your phone and make purchases (amongst other things). You can set it up now or tap Set Up Touch ID Later.

9. If you're skipping past Touch ID, you'll need to confirm by tapping Don't Use (you can still set it up in the future through settings if you want to).
10. Create a passcode to protect your phone. Type your passcode, and when you're asked, type it in again.
11. The standard passcode is a 6-digit code of numbers. Tap Passcode options to change it to any of the following:
· Custom Alphanumeric Code: a password that's got letters and numbers in
· Custom Numeric Code: a password that's just numbers
· 4-Digit Numeric Code: a normal PIN number
12. To set your iPhone up as a new phone, tap Set Up as New Phone. If you want to move your data and information from an Android phone or restore from a backup of an old iPhone through iCloud or iTunes, then choose one of those options.

13. If you're new to Apple kit you'll need to sign up for a free ‘Apple ID’ to download apps, back-up your phone etc. Tap Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it and complete the form to sign up for a new Apple ID.
14. If you've already got an Apple ID, type the ID and password into the phone and tap Next.
15. If you sign in, you'll be asked about using 'Two-factor authentication'. If you've used any Apple kit in the past, you'll get a code to activate your phone. If not, tap Continue to set it up, or tap Other Options to skip.
16. Tap to read any of the Terms and Conditions, then tap Agree to move on.

17. ‘Location Services’ power Find my iPhone, Maps and other services. Tap to Enable Location Services or choose to Disable instead.
18. Register your credit or debit cards with Apple Pay if you want to use your phone to pay for things. Tap Continue to set it up now, or to skip, tap Set Up Later in Wallet.
19. iCloud keychain securely shares your passwords between all of your Apple kit (like iMacs, iPads and MacBooks). To add your iPhone to your existing keychain, tap Continue to set it up, or Don't Use iCloud Keychain to skip.
20. Tap Continue to set up Siri, which is Apple's virtual assistant to help you do things on your iPhone. To skip, tap Set Up Later in Settings.

21. You'll see information about Apple's use of diagnostic and usage data from your phone. Tap Continue.
22. App Analytics help app developers make improvements to their products. To share feedback with them tap Share with App Developers, or Don't Share.
23. The new Home button is completely touch powered, tap Get Started to set it up.
24. The amount of touch 'feedback' you feel through the phone can be changed. Tap each of the numbers in turn to 'choose your click', then tap Next.

25. Display Zoom lets you pick between standard or zoomed icons, which changes the amount of wallpaper you can see between them. Pick which layout you like best, then tap Next.
26. That's the Setup Wizard finished. Tap Get Started to start using your new iPhone.

That should be everything you need to do to get your new iPhone up and running. What’s your favourite thing about getting a new phone? Let us know in the comments!
