Question

after switch still unabke to use iMessages and FaceTime and more

I joined id mobile just over a week ago and I was finally able to switch my old phone number to this provider yesterday. It was a nightmare as my previous account (and my old phone number) stopped working at around 10 am and my id community eSIM did not switch to the old number until 5pm or so(about 7 hours later). Nevertheless, there were still issues as some important texts (especially from abroad) could not be received and FaceTime and iMessage did not work. This morning the status quo is more or less the same, I tried virtually any thing to set up iMessage and FaceTime but nothing seem to work and I have never had a problem like that before. What is wrong with this provider?

    Hi @cosnick365

I am so sorry to hear of the issues that you are having.

Please note that in order to receive texts from a non-UK number, you will need to increase your bill cap as it is not included in your package.

Depending on the country that you are trying to contact, the price would vary. You can read more about the out-of-plan charges on https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/call-charges and view the charges per text on https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/international-and-roaming-charges.

    Regards,

    Hi @tjh98,

I am so sorry to hear that you are facing similar issues, kindly note, as mentioned above, text messages are chargeable if being sent to or from a non-UK number, the same goes for calls that are non-UK numbers.

If you are facing issues with your iMessage or FaceTime, please could you try the below, depending on your phone model and see if they helps with the issue:

    For Android:

    • Open Settings
    • Tap General Management
    • Tap Reset
    • Select Reset network settings

    For iPhone:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap Phone
    • Tap My Number
    • Delete the old number
    • Enter the new number
    • Tap Save

Then follow these steps to refresh iMessage:

    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap Messages
    3. Turn iMessage OFF
    4. Go to Settings > General
    5. Tap Reset
    6. Choose Reset Network Settings
    7. Once your iPhone restarts, go back to Settings
    8. Tap Messages
    9. Turn iMessage ON again

Your iPhone should now recognise the new SIM and verify your number.

    Regards,

Sorry, I tried every setting possible and can send the messages just cannot receive them and I need to as connected with my international passport.

i have been able to receive sms from abroad from any of my previous providers (and I had the whole lot), why can’t I receive them with this provider?

    Hi @cosnick365 ,

I’m really sorry you’re still having this issue, I understand how frustrating this is, especially as you need to receive international SMS.

Since you’ve tried the settings and spoken with Apple, please wait for the replacement physical SIM you requested, as eSIM provisioning can sometimes affect messaging.

With iD Mobile, international SMS should normally work, so if the issue continues after the new SIM arrives, please let us know so we can escalate this for technical review.

Again, I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

    Lamiya

I had originally a eSIM but then I have replaced it with a physical sim but still no change.
