I want to give my child an Apple Watch with cellular for Christmas. Both myself and my husband have iPhones on iD mobile. I know that the network doesn’t have cellular plans for Apple Watch. Better Roaming is the only UK network that supports Apple Watch For Your Kids (Family Setup) not linked to the parent device network but my question is will my/my husband’s phones on iD Mobile allow this to be set up as it looks like some carriers don’t? Apple’s Family Setup lets you set up a cellular Apple Watch for a family member (e.g., a child) without needing their own iPhone, giving the watch its own number and plan through a supported network.
However, support for this feature depends on the network provider. At the moment, iD Mobile does not support adding a cellular Apple Watch plan to your account, including Family Setup plans ,because it isn’t currently supported through our network That means that even though your iPhones on iD Mobile work perfectly, you cannot set up a cellular plan for the Apple Watch through iD Mobile right now.
If you want a standalone Apple Watch cellular plan (e.g., for your child):
-You may need to use a network that supports Apple Watch Family Setup plans (some providers in the UK such as EE and others do support it).
-Or you can look into third-party plans that explicitly support Apple Watch Family Setup, like the Better Roaming option (though this is separate from your main iD Mobile plan).
