Question

Blank spots of coverage

There are many times I've tried to use my phone in areas and get absolutely no signal, yet my friend (who introduced me to id mobile) and stood next to me can! Why is this ? I've got a pretty new phone with 5g coverage where available.

@Mike Hatch It may be down to the device. What you can do is put your sim card in your friends phone and their sim card in you phone in the areas that you're and see if the problems still present

    Hi @Mike Hatch ,

I understand how frustrating that must be, especially when you’re right next to someone who has signal and you don’t.

Even if you’re both on iD Mobile, signal can still vary slightly between devices. This can be down to a few things, such as:

-Differences in phone models and how their antennas pick up signal

-Network settings on the device (for example, 5G/4G preferences)

-SIM card issues or how the SIM is provisioned on the network

-Local coverage variations, even within the same area

As a first step, I’d recommend restarting your phone, checking that network mode is set to automatic (5G/4G/3G), and trying your SIM in another phone if possible.
