Over the last 48 hours I have missed several important calls where the phone hasn’t rung but honestly straight to voicemail. It apoears that the signal is dropping out constantly. Ive restarted my phone. Signal returns gor a bit then starts dropping again. What can i do?

Hi @Helens23

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear you're missing important calls because your signal keeps dropping indoors. I understand how frustrating and concerning this must be, particularly when calls are going straight to voicemail without your phone ringing.

As the signal appears to return temporarily after restarting and then drops again, please try the following:

1. Set your handset to 4G only

4G can provide a more stable connection than 5G in some locations.

iPhone:

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Mobile Service/Mobile Data.
  • Select Voice & Data.
  • Choose 4G/LTE.
  • Restart your iPhone and test your incoming calls.

Android:

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Connections/Network & Internet.
  • Select Mobile Networks.
  • Tap Network Mode/Preferred Network Type.
  • Select 4G/LTE only.
  • Restart your handset and test again.

2. Refresh the network connection

  • Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30–60 seconds.
  • Turn it off and wait a few minutes for the network connection to return.
  • Then ask someone to call you and check whether the phone rings normally.

3. Check Wi-Fi Calling

If you have reliable Wi-Fi indoors, Wi-Fi Calling can help when mobile coverage is weak inside a building. iD Mobile supports Wi-Fi Calling for compatible handsets.

Try switching Wi-Fi Calling off and back on, then restart your handset and test an incoming call. If possible, also try another Wi-Fi network to rule out an issue with your home broadband.

4. Check call settings

Please also check that:

  • Do Not Disturb/Focus is switched off.
  • The affected callers aren't blocked.
  • Call Forwarding is disabled.

These are recommended checks for calls going directly to voicemail.

5. Reset your network settings

If the problem continues, try resetting your network settings. Please be aware that this can remove saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections.

If possible, also test your iD Mobile SIM in another compatible, unlocked handset. This can help establish whether the problem follows the SIM or is specific to your handset.
