I’m unable to call Plus 44 numbers from Europe. My plan should cover this.

Hi @Louise Mendoza ,

Is your bill cap set to £0? If it is, then you'll be able to make an international call from another country to the UK.

Hi @Louise Mendoza,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble calling UK numbers while you're in Europe.

If you're trying to call a UK number from an inclusive roaming destination, please try the following:

  • Make sure you're dialling the number in the correct international format, using +44 instead of the leading 0. For example, +447700900123 or 00447700900123 rather than 07700900123.
  • Check that your phone is connected to one of our roaming partner networks.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it back off.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Ensure Roaming, International, and Premium services are enabled on your iD Mobile account. You can check this in the iD Mobile app or online account under Services > Manage my services.
  • Try manually selecting a different network operator and then test the call again.
  • Make sure your bill cap isn't preventing the call from connecting.

If possible, could you also let us know:

  • Which country you're currently in?
  • Whether you're trying to call a UK mobile or landline number?
  • The first 5 digits of the number you're calling (please don't post the full number)?

That should help us point you in the right direction.

Regards,

Many, if not most UK 0800 providers only permit access if it’s a UK caller.;😍

Hi @Louise Mendoza,

Thanks for trying those steps and I'm sorry to hear you're still unable to access the service.

If you're currently abroad, it's worth noting that 0800 numbers can't be called from outside the UK, which may explain why you're receiving the access error.

If you need to contact a UK company or service while overseas, we'd recommend looking for an alternative number. Many organisations provide an international contact number that starts with:

  • +44 1
  • +44 2
  • +44 3

These numbers can usually be dialled from abroad without issue.

If the company you're trying to contact has a website, it's worth checking their contact page for an international alternative to the 0800 number.

I hope this helps explain what's happening. If you're trying to call a different type of number, please let us know and we'll be happy to advise further.

Regards,

I find it peculiar to not allow people abroad using their UK account to call a free number. Mind-blowing!

Hi @Halpulaar

The services are not operating on a UK based network and you are using the services of another countries network this is why you might not have access to it and need the codes above.

Thanks,
Hosai
